Distech Controls launches EC-Light, a complete LONWORKS lighting control system, designed to meet the requirements of any commercial or industrial application. EC-Light allows energy efficient lighting applications including general area or accent lighting as well as lighting schemes, sequences and relay group management.
With advanced lighting applications such as time delay override, warning flickering before lights out and maintenance time set-up, EC-Light allows for versatility and energy efficiency. The EC-Light Scheduler and Display offer state-of-the-art features such as astronomical clock and real-time clock scheduling, creation of 16 independent schedules and interface to up to 250 network variables.
EC-Light is a networkable lighting system which interfaces with the LONWORKS network and its subsystems (such as HVAC), providing an integrated energy management system.
Allowing efficient management of lighting loads, EC-Light helps clients save energy and money.
EC-Light Panels
Mounted in steel enclosures ready for mounting within an electrical room, the EC-Light Panels are available in sizes 8, 16, 32 and 64 relays. The Panels come standard with input controller, heavy-duty relays, output controllers, 120/277/347 Volt transformer, and movable protection plate between high and low voltage sections.
For additional functionality, an EC-Light-Scheduler or EC-Light-Display can be mounted onto the panels.
Each input controller allows for 8 low-voltage switches, which share a common low-voltage wiring run thus eliminating expensive multiple home runs or 16 dry contacts. Furthermore, the input controller is compatible with low-voltage switches, and sensors, such as occupancy or photocell sensors. The output controls a selection of two-wire relays, allowing for 16 outputs per controller. The HID, two-wire relays offer true feedback and manual override, are latched and have a life cycle of 50,000 cycles.
Relays can be organized into groups allowing the following parameters to be set for additional energy efficiency:
- Warning period through flickering of lights to announce system will turn off, giving time for local users to bypass the system if necessary or to leave the building.
- Maintenance/security crew bypass of lighting system for a specific amount of time.
- Hold time through switch or motion detection, allowing the user to initiate the system for a specified time period.
- Time delay override, allowing a user to override the lighting system for a specific amount of time.
The EC-Light panels are fully configurable using the EC-Configure LNS based plug-ins, with a network management tool such as Distech Controls’ Lonwatcher.

EC-Light Scheduler
The LONWORKS EC-Light Scheduler is a device dedicated to storing and managing the scheduled events required for your lighting control system, with a capacity to store up to 16 independent schedules.
Each schedule includes a template for days of week with a capacity of up to six events per day. For added flexibility, there are four special day templates per schedule object, for holidays or other exceptional events in your scheduling. The EC-Light Scheduler also allows you to configure scene function and number (pre-set lighting action) based on time of day or based on relative time to sunset and sunrise. The integrated astronomical clock facilitates applications such as outdoor lighting whereas the real-time clock provides for accurate timekeeping with controller applications. Furthermore, there is a dedicated output network variable for each of the schedules supported, which can be bound to any of the other devices on your network.
The EC-Light Scheduler is easily configured using an EC-Configure LNS based plug-in software, with a network management tool such as Distech Controls’ Lonwatcher.
The EC-Light Scheduler can be used as on itself or mounted within an EC-Light Panel.

EC-Light Display
The LONWORKS EC-Light Display is a multi-function LCD device allowing you to display and interface with up to 250 network variables and store and manage up to 16 independent schedules. The EC-Light Display is the perfect interface for any sized lighting system, where a PC front end is not always required or where a manual interface is desired for a faster and more convenient access.
The EC-Light Display can be used with the Distech Controls easyCONTROLS system as a human-to-machine-interface. However, being fully interoperable, it can also operate with any LONWORKS device using SNVTs or UNVTs.
Each schedule includes a template for days of week with a capacity of up to six events per day. The group and variable names are customizable with up to 13 and 16 characters respectively.
