Over the last year, Distech Controls has implemented multiple green practices in its business process and relationships with clients. One such practice was Distech Controls' virtual Season's Greetings card. In an effort to decrease the environmental impact brought on by the use of printed Season’s Greetings cards and the related environmental costs of mailing, such as transportation, paper envelopes etc., Distech Controls implemented, in December of 2008, an ecological Season’s Greetings project in association with Earth Day Quebec. As such, moneys usually spent on card printing and postage was donated to Earth Day Quebec’s Network of Green Corridors program, in Quebec, Canada.
As a result, 160 trees were planted in June of 2009, in Bethanie, Quebec, an area particularly affected by ground erosion. These trees also contribute to Earth Day Quebec’s effort to develop a Network of Green Corridors, connecting forests and other natural sites by corridors of trees, for increased protection of these natural environments and their biodiversity.

About Earth Day
Earth Day is a powerful catalyst for change. It was founded by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson (D-Wisconsin) as an environmental teach-in in 1970. The event later inspired the US Congress to pass the «Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species» Act, and establish the Environmental Protection Agency to research and monitor environmental issues and enforce environmental laws.
Celebrated every April 22, Earth Day is now the largest, most celebrated environmental event worldwide, with 1 billion people in over 170 countries staging events and projects to address local environmental issues.
