What energizes me in my job?

As a trainer, I am driven by a deep passion for technology and efficiency. The world’s energy demands are on the rise, and resources are finite. Being part of a global effort that strives for high energy efficiency using innovative technology is not just rewarding, but also deeply fulfilling.

My journey as a trainer is marked by continuous learning. Distech Controls’ products are always evolving and improving. This constant innovation keeps me on my toes, ensuring that I’m always learning about new products and technologies. This keeps my job interesting and challenging.

Improvement and mastery are also key aspects of my role. Using the valuable feedback we receive from our customers, we refine our training sessions week after week, not just in terms of delivery, but also content. Each training session is an opportunity to solidify my knowledge of Distech Controls’ offerings and find more effective ways to present topics or explain complex concepts in a simpler way.

Lastly, it feels great when our customers tell us they enjoyed the training. For those new to Distech Controls, they leave the training with a solid knowledge base. For those with years of experience, the training helps to clarify concepts and bridge knowledge gaps, enabling them to be more efficient in their roles.

What energizes me in my job?

As an Distech educator and innovator, I love bringing my energy and experience to challenge my students to think critically, experiment, and explore the possibilities that our software solutions can offer. Encouraging my students to excel beyond their perceived limits and bring value to their customers in fresh ways is a core touchstone for me. I am energized when I see my students growing in their confidence and capabilities, and when I can also learn new things from them. It’s a win-win for all!

Every student I work with brings a fresh perspective and unique challenges from the field, and I love being part of their journey. Whether it's brainstorming creative solutions or untangling complex problems, I’m all about turning real-world challenges into exciting learning moments.

What gets me fired up every day? It's the light bulb moment—that instant when a concept clicks, confidence takes root, and a learner realizes, “I’ve got this!”

As a technical trainer, I’m all about creating those moments. I’m here to make sure every training session is not just informative, but also enjoyable and empowering. Learning should be an experience, not a chore—and I aim to keep it engaging, hands-on, and real-world focused.

With over 40 years of hands-on experience in Avionics and Building Automation, I’ve always been driven by a deep passion for technology. From the cockpit to the control room, I believe the key to success lies in strong, practical training—and I’m committed to helping the next generation of engineers and technicians thrive.

Teaching is more than just a job for me—it's a mission. I take pride in guiding students from curious novices to confident professionals ready to tackle real-world challenges, from tricky commissioning tasks to complex system faults. Watching that transformation happen? That’s the most rewarding part of my work.

I’m here to share not just knowledge, but wisdom earned through decades of technical problem-solving. If I can help shape capable, solution-focused talent for our industry, then I know I’ve done my part.
